  1. Yo sir. Yeah I'm a girl, but I'm curious about dota and I'd like it if you'd discuss it in class sometime. Basically, I'd like to know about it, how to play it, and what makes it so addicting to my peers. Thanks in advance, sir hahaha -ABMA125_PulidoElenei

  5. Good Day, Professor Jose. This is Samuel Solema of ABMA-126 for GAMECON (I was the judge for the KimXPachig story today)

In regards to our first home work, my suggested game would be:

    TEAM FORTRESS 2

It's a very good game, one of which was my favorite past time with friends during my 1st and 2nd year of college.

I believe the game is not just a first person shooter nor a hat-collecting game, but when looked at deeper, it is a training ground for tactical & combat situations and a practice of true team progress.

    That's my suggestion, sir.
    Thank you and good day.

  6. Hi Sir Choi,

The game/s I would like you to discuss are the old video games and old traditional games of other countries so we would know and appreciate theirs.

  9. Hello sir Choi,

I would like to suggest discussing games like Dungeons and Dragons, Vampire: the masquerade or anything that's "choose your adventure type" game. as much I want to talk about video games, this particular table top game genre has piqued my interest since of the growing amount of people playing these kinds of games in our school.

I actually used to stay away from table-top games like those because they seem like complex games that require mathematics and luck so as a game con professor please help me appreciate the genre more and also have other students discover such genre.

this is my suggestion sir, I hope you have a good day.

-my name is Joshua Miguel Rinaldi Escano of ABMA 121.

ps. Sir I have a class on saturday that starts at 8:00 am (natser 2) which is going to be a conflict to your schedule since our class starts at 7:30 am, when I got both subjects from ms. Agnes, I asked if that will be a problem, she said "no", but now I'm highly doubting that! if the problem doesn't fix itself(which it won't) I may skip your class due to this issue, but I will ask someone to submit my game review.

  10. Hello Sir,

What I'd like to be discussed in class would be traditional games like "hide and seek," "kick the can," or even "patintero". And video games like "Dota2," "Ragnarok Online," or anything with a complicated RPG mechanics and discuss why are video games such as these, games that have really hard mechanics, more of a hit than traditional games, where there are simple mechanics and not a waste of $30.

  17. Hi Sir,

The game I would like to be discussed in the class is Pokemon. Pokemon is one of the well known game since 1996. Now 18 years have passed, they are already six generations and many people are still playing the game. There are many things to do in Pokemon not just finishing the game or completing the pokedex. The game has also a competitive battle where we breed pokemon to get the perfect pokemon (Getting the perfect ability, EV, IV, Nature and the movesets which is really hard to understand if you have just started in competitive.) in battling. From around the world, they held competitions and they have prizes and stuff. Also the game helps us to be strategic on what move to use in a certain pokemon and they have computation on the attacks and status moves on pokemon which is really complicated but really fun to learn.

  19. Hi Sir Choi!

I would love to hear about first and third person shooting games. I was always curious about how they were made.

    First person games (personal favorite):
    - Counter Strike, Left 4 Dead, and DOOM

    Third person games:
    - Grand Theft Auto Series

I also like strategic games like Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge (Thumbs up!), Starcraft, etc. Forgive me for I am an old school type PC gamer. I have no Playstation's, PSPs, and even Game Boy since then, seriously. Games these day are just expensive and too long to "pirate".

  27. That's a lot of games here! some I have a playable copy (will upload soon), some I've never heard of, and would like to try as well.

Some very good discussion points that you guys have pointed out:
-the games that made our childhood, how'd they do that? also: simple vs complicated, why & when either works for a game
-the evolution/inspiration of some game types (ex: the 1stperson shooter).
-compare/contrast traditional games of various countries.
-some games as sweet sweet educational tools (without meaning to be).

Hold those thoughts, they may either be a topic for discussion in class or your topic of choice for the midterm essay.

    Keep 'em coming!

  31. Hi sir, I would like to suggest "Everquest Next." Though it is still in development, the idea of building your own world and also the ability to destroy it as well intrigues me, mostly because it is an MMORPG. How they did it with all the syncing is one of the questions I always had in mind. Another would be "Magic the Gathering." How they maintain balance with all their new gen and old gen cards is just amazing as well.

  47. Hi Sir,

As a kid I vividly remember playing legacy of kain: soul reaver. It's an action-adventure game which involves a lot of hack-and-slash with challenging puzzles. This game really made me want to make games in the first place. Plus I feel that this game has been a huge inspiration for games like god of war and other action-adventure games. I hope we can discuss this :)

  48. Hi.

Since most of the comments above talk about mainstream video games. I would suggest discussing the rising popularity of Indie PC games. There are good titles out there like Minecraft, Outlast (and other past horror indie titles), and the recent ones with this narrative genre like Gone Home and Stanley Parable.

As for me, I tend to play any video/ misc game, literally. But just in case, here is my top genres and some suggested games :)))

#3 Action-adventure: Legend of Zelda Games [Top 3 is mainstream but still, people want to hear about them :)) ]

#2 Role Playing: Monster Hunter Games [Be a hunter in a great, 3d, pristine world full of beasts, dragons and legends. Um yea, dragons.]

#1 Strategy: Disgaea Series [If a great story line + insane skill combos aren't enough, try getting to level 9999 in these games]

  51. Sir, for me I'll go with:

1.) The Last Of Us - Because it was IGN's game of the year. A story driven game.

2.) Grand Theft Auto V - They said its probably the best sandbox so far.

3.) 2013's Tomb Raider - They said it was what Lara Croft deserved.

4.) Assassins Creed Francise - I just like these games. XD

5.) The Evil Within - The return of the survival horror genre

  69. Yume Nikki, Ib, Witch's House, Mermaid Swamp, Lisa the First, Katawa Shoujo, Catlateral Damage and Minecraft. :)

Most of these games are japanese-translated games made with RPGMaker that has grown a small fanbase over the internet. Katawa shoujo is an otome game collaborated by users in 4chan, Catlateral is fairly new, and I don't know who made it but it's a fairly interesting 3D game where you're a cat who swats stuff to gain points. And I think you know what Minecraft is. xD

It'd be interesting to talk about these games. Thanks!
